Three Arch Partners invests only in healthcare. We consider opportunities in medical devices, diagnostics and healthcare services, and less frequently in biotechnology. Our primary focus is on early stage investments, where the right team and approach can generate the best returns. We also make selected investments in later stage healthcare companies that can benefit from our experience and resources and promise strong financial returns.

Often we evaluate projects well before managers have been selected or business plans have been written. We have the first hand clinical and engineering experience required to make subtle evaluations, and to manage the challenges inherent in setting up new companies. We help to identify and understand the important technical, regulatory, intellectual property, and market issues. When needed, we help to recruit the best available clinical, scientific and management personnel. Once a decision to proceed is made, we help prepare the plan and take an active role in ensuring a strong initial venture capital financing. We actively participate on the boards of our portfolio companies.

We believe that co-investing with other venture capital funds, even in the early rounds, makes sense for most companies. This is particularly true where development and regulatory timelines are long, and capital requirements are likely to be high. Regardless of the size of the initial funding, we recognize that it is not unusual for a medical company to require ongoing financial support from its venture capital investors. As a consequence, we aggressively reserve adequate funds to support each of our companies.

We remain actively involved even as our companies become more established. Three Arch Partners helps in the recruitment of additional management, the identification of complementary technology and products, the negotiation and evaluation of corporate agreements, and the development of operating and financial strategy. We also help ensure successful follow-on financings. This is particularly important in challenging financing markets.

As a result of investing across a range of sectors and stages, our initial investments may range from $100,000 to $15,000,000.
